		Wendi Davies Wendi is part owner and operator of Ballroom on Fifth studios in midtown Mahattan. Ballroom On Fifth 319 Fifth Avenue (4th floor), New York NY 10016 212.532.6232 - Studio 973.325.1399 - Home & Fax Wendi began dancing while in college studying architecture. A competitive swimmer for many years, she was looking for a new competitive outlet. The daughter of dancing parents, she soon learned of the competitive and athletic nature of Ballroom Dancing. In her amateur career she was ranked third in the United States. She turned professional in 1991 and went on to be ranked second at the United States Championships, and was the winner of "Championship Ballroom Dancing" the popular show on PBS. She was a finalist at the French Open, the British Open and the US Open Championships and was ranked 13th in the world. In January 2001, Wendi began a new partnership with Giacomo Agrello, a native of Varese, Italy, a small town north of Milan. He began dancing at the age of 19 strictly for social reasons, but soon found himself drawn to the competitive arena. Within a very short time Giacomo became a successful amateur competitor in Italy. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected knee injury by Wendi, in the summer or 2002, her and Giacomo had to cut their very dynamic partnership short. Wendi is a member of the U.S. Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance and is Licentiate in both Standard and Latin dancing. Wendi teaches regularly at Ballroom on Fifth in NYC as well as traveling to Washington, Baltimore, Minnesota and Vermont to teach.
